Development Update

First of all I would like to thank you all for being so pateint over the last few months as I know the User Control Panel was lacking some attention. I have now returned as a Developer for Red County Roleplay and will continue to improve the User Control Panel and all web related services for the seeable future.

I expect most of you to have little faith in me as a developer as I have been and gone so many times over the last year, just to inform you that all of my departures were unplanned and I would have loved to have continued developing the User Control Panel. However, due to work and real life I was unable to.

User Control Panel - V2.4.1

The first thing I began doing as soon as I returned was working on a small release just to give the site a bit of a jazz up so here are the changes:

  • Major changes to the support ticket system - both the front end and the way the system functions has been changed. (Yellow Boxes is a staff reply.)
  • Faction Administrators can now edit factions on the UCP similar to that of the /fedit command. (Factions that are edited VIA the UCP are now reloaded on the server minute count)
  • Fixed a bug where Armour and Weapons would not show for ownedVehicles or would display incorrectly.
  • Administrators are now able to view Donations per master account instead of having to search through individual character accounts.
  • Updated CKEditor to include some more plugins and a new theme.
  • Fixed a bug where upon editing master account permissions it would save the data incorrectly and overwrite the wrong settings.
  • Additions to the API
  • More bug fixes that I cannot remember
Planned Features

It's very easy to give you a small update and expect you to be happy, well that's not the case here, I have always had big features planned for the User Control Panel and never got round to finishing them you can expect to see the following in the User Control Panel at somepoint within the next couple of months:

  • Finish the Public Character Profile System - Including our own custom BBCode Parser to allow you to display dynamic information in your character story such as current house if you wish and most information that is avaliable to you as a player.
  •  Change the support ticket system to intergrate departments, thus streamlining the whole ticket process as the ticket will only be shown to those with valid access levels to what you need.
  • Intergrate a Faction Chat system on the User Control Panel using sockets.
  • Change the design to allow for more than one theme and allow donators to customise their own profile (Including background, font and colors)
  • Revamp the staff page to show more information and intergrate helpers onto the page.
  • Change the frequently asked questions page to a knowledgebase.

That's just the features that I can think of myself! If there's anything you would like to see in the next version of the User Control Panel then head over to the forum and post a suggestion now!

Closing Statement

I would like to say a big thank you to BigD (My Brother) for continuing to develop the User Control Panel in my absence and TommyB for giving me another chance to develop the User Control Panel. Hopefully, as work gets quieter I will be able to dedicate more time to both Red County Roleplay and the User Control Panel overall.

If you have any questions or want me to share some knowledge with you then don't hesitate to contact me on [email protected] I aim to respond to all emails within 12 hours unless I am sleeping.

Red County Roleplay would be nothing without its factions, so we're asking you to help us help them, by telling us how you think the faction system at the moment is going, what you think of the factions currently in the server, and how we can improve the system as a whole.

Your feedback is really important to us, so we'd appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to fill out a short, anonymous survey, or have your say on the forum.

PRESS RELEASE #100 - San Andreas State Police, End of March Update.

SID Seizures, March 2015.

This month within the San Andreas State Police has been incredibly successful, not only would we like to thank our serving troopers, but also you, the citizens and hard workers of Red, Flint and Bone County, without you, and your will to help others, the tri-county area would not be as much of a pleasing and decent place to live.

Within the month of March, our Special Investigations Division has once again been cracking down on illegal activity within Red, Flint and Bone County, and the statistics for March are listed below.

Seizures within the Red, Flint and Bonce County area, over the month of March.

  • A total of 15 (fifteen) automatic and semi-automatic rifles, totalling a street value of $262,000 ($USD)
  • A total of 1060 (one-thousand-and-sixty) grams of cocaine, totalling a street value of over $159,000 ($USD)

Weapon Licensing Update.

Many members of the public have often been asking about when weapon licenses will be, once again, available to apply for. Currently, the system behind closed doors over at the Dillimore Headquarters are in full swing, we're getting everything ready for you, so that your application and application process are as smooth, and efficient as possible. Applications are currently still closed, however should be open once again during some time in the month of April (a date will be announced soon, and press release will follow on this date). As well as a new system and more efficient database being put into practise, our weapon licensing team here at the San Andreas State Police are writing up new regulations and protocols, so that acquiring weapon licenses is a much more straight forward (although safer) process.

(( Weapon licenses are currently bugged on the server, however I've been told that this issue is being fixed soon enough!))

Training & Recruitment Update.

The recruitment for the San Andreas State Police is currently open. This means that you are more than welcome to apply for a position here at the department, we welcome any and all questions or queries you may have, and they can be forwarded to a trooper, or the non-emergency hotline for the State Police. ((Dial 911, then select miscellaneous as opposed to a crime.))

All further information on our recruitment and academy selection process can be found here.

Closing Statement.

For any further information on any of these topics, and any issues you may have, please feel free to get in touch with our Public Affairs unit, which is based out of the Dillimore Police Department, Red County. You may also freely email any member  of the Public Affairs unit, and they will be more than happy to help you.

Hello San Andreas,

Over the past few months the progression of the Public Affairs division has been slow, as big changes in the department have taken the limelight. In the recent months we have seen our ex-Colonel Malcolm Cambridge leave the department to be taken over by Daniel Evans, since then we have had a fair few changes within the department and the biggest one of all was the start of Academy Batch #16.

The Academy process is a long one with an approximate length of one and a half months from the day you sign off your application till the day you sign off your Field Training Report. But this is a training scheme which is one of the best in the country and it's one we're immensely proud of. This week, five hard working candidates finished the academy and are now Trooper's in the San Andreas State Police, congratulations to:

  • Elena Green
  • Frederick Blackburn
  • Adelaide Coltrane
  • Kyle Sanford
  • Randy Teller

The end of February was also a time of celebration for our existing staff here at San Andreas State Police where the hard working were rewarded for their excellent contribution towards the department, including new faces to the Sergeant's team.

  • Michael Meyrick
  • Josh Hextall

Finally, I'd like to introduce myself as the new Commander of Public Affairs. Over the next few week's we will be concentrating on connecting with the public more and we'll be here to answer your questions. My aim is to bring the community and the government closer to create a happier San Andreas. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Sergeant Michael Meyrick
Commander of the Public Affairs Division

Who are Aperture?

Howard Jones, San Andreas News Network

For years now, Aperture have been a secretive organisation centralised around the deserts of Bone County. They were founded in 1984, funded by multinational firms investing billions of dollars into what Aperture and the Aperture Corporation is today. Their original ventures took them to developing the world's first consumer grade digital camera which lead them into success where they bought large volumes of shares in companies such as IBM and BMW.

On the other hand, the Aperture Corporation, established in 1991, came as a result of such an expansion across the globe. As it stands, Aperture have the following list of subsidiaries:

  • Burns Global Investment Gruppe Conglomerate Corporation
  • Aperture Corporation
  • Aperture Technologies
  • Aperture Medical
  • Aperture Research
  • Aperture International Inc.

We have highlighted Aperture Research because this sparks the most controversy into what goes in behind those closed doors. In 1988, a 650 acre area of the desert was coned off to the public eye by the San Andreas Governor. A facility was being built on behalf of Aperture which was amid fears of combat between the Soviet Union and the United States which was undergoing the most intense nuclear programme in history. Within these fears, the facility's purpose was rumoured to be for the creation of technology which effectively crippled any satellites from foreign nations at the touch of a button. It even comes with its own nuclear bunker to protect 10,000 personnel from an attack - I highly doubt that is for regular citizens from the state.

During this time, several unidentified objects were seen over the facility from such towns as Fort Carson and Las Barrancas, even so far as Bayside and Spiny Bed received reports of objects in the sky. These documentations were passed to the owners of the Lil' Probe Inn which avoided demolition during the building phases of the facility. Ownership has been passed down to the next generation of the Jones family and the interior is preserved in its earlier 1980s style with added memorabilia of such occurrences. Below are two images taken from inside, each one taken in the early 1990s.

This image depicts the UFO spottings over Bone County, Tierro Robada and Las Venturas in January of 1991 alone

This image shows various recorded sightings in the early 1990s - mysterious shapes and lights in the skies.

These, and most of the following images were from the archives from when the Lil' Probe Inn was owned by Rachel and Steven Jones.

To begin with, the facility had two signs either side of a dirt road to mark the entry to their facility meaning non-locals had to be very careful as to where they went - one second where you lack concentration could have costed you your life. Since the mid-1990s, security has become more of a public thing with large watch towers, spot lights, cameras, motion sensors and sound detectors spread across the whole landscape. Approaching the checkpoint, one sees a sign reading "Aperture Corporation. San Andreas Research Facility" and "Strictly no photography. Authorised personnel only."

So our question to everyone is: What really goes on behind those closed doors? We've done our digging around in archives, newspapers, witness statements and legal documents and it's rather a grey area but we feel that we've begun to discover the truth behind this private corporation and its ties with the military.

From what we have gathered, Aperture are a research corporation mainly focused on the development and production of chemicals and chemical weaponry to fight a war which never begun. It, and the 650 acres of land, have been housing the some of the most secretive documentation of the U.S. Government and they are still refusing to admit their actions. In its time, various shipments have been seen at various locations destined for the Aperture Research Facility and the Aperture Warehouse in the more high-profile Montgomery. Agents have constantly been looking over us with cameras and snipers, getting a look at who we are every single day of our lives.

The most notable shipment of recent years was one shipped in from abroad and transported to Montgomery by road and under police escort at the beginning of December. A ship, named Hai Tie 9 and registered in China, was seen docking at the Fort Carson docks earlier that day where several containers were removed by road and taken to the local shipping yard to be distributed across the county but Aperture collected theirs later and transported the container by road to the warehouse. With the fact that China's an emerging world superpower, it has led us to believe that Aperture have ties and contracts with their government to provide systems on their behalf. Several other ships have been seen docking there over the years and most are registered with China or South Korea. Some sources suggest that these shipments contain certain substances originating from gunpowder, others claim it's chemicals used in Aperture's medical research and drug research which we know happens inside the facility and warehouse.

This is the ship (Hai Tie 9) - docked at Fort Carson awaiting offloading by Aperture. Agents are on watch of camera with their own ones - eyeing me and another person up as we stood on the hill.

One of the Aperture trucks pulling up in the docks, clearly identifiable by the jet black paint scheme and emergency lights.

So to conclude this article, I have a bit more to add. Despite their secrecy, Aperture have failed to maintain their privacy and are left exposed in their environment even if they do feel comfortable. We, as citizens of the United States of America must UNITE and not hide secrets from one another. Now that these secrets have been revealed, I'm sure that more will come up and I will be actively searching through the archives collected by my parents at the Lil' Probe Inn and I will fight to not lose that property if I need to.

Please, feel free to come inside for a drink at some point. Take a look around at our pictures and memorabilia whilst you're at it and you might as well have a game of pool or snooker when you're there! Parking is free for customers and you can get a great view of the base's entrance from there where you can see agents driving in and out every hour.

Teamspeak Issues

Hello Everyone,

As you may have noticed that over the last two days, the teamspeak server kept shutting down. Due to the fact that we have a non profit license the server checks our license is valid at random intervals, and the firewall was blocking the outbound connection to the licensing server. The issue has now been fixed, and teamspeak should no longer shutdown. If it does contact either TommyB or Frost.
